What do appliances and bicycles have in common? JB Bike Shop. Originally named JB Repair Inc., JB opened his store on South Beach in 1987 to repair appliances. Shortly after opening, he was approached by the locals in the area and asked if he would repair their bicycles. Now any Joe Schmoe can tell you repairing appliances is a completely different animal than fixing bikes. Not for JB though. He grew up in Long Beach, New York, where he spent his summers working in a local bike shop learning the ins and outs. It didn't occur to him to open a bicycle shop until the demand for bike repairs outgrew that of appliances.
JB passed away in 2002, but his vision lives on. He loved working in his store and helping out the community. His involvement earned him the respect of many Miami Beach police officers and other prominent members of the community. Today, his son Sam continues to help his vision grow and solidify JB Bike Shop as a supportive member of the Miami Beach community.
